    OCT screenings
Your eyes are an invaluable part of your health, and OCT screenings play an important role in helping to look after them.
With an OCT screening our optometrists can not only provide an early diagnosis for many ocular conditions, but also create a record of the health and condition of your eyes.
An OCT scan can be beneficial for anyone regardless of age but highly recommended if you’re over 60 or if you have a history with eye problems.

    Description & Process

At Barnham Opticians your comfort and eye health is our number one priority. We understand that you may have a busy schedule, or may have concerns about possible discomfort during an OCT screening. An OCT scan is non-invasive, painless, simple and quick – normally taking only a few minutes, so you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your eyes are in good condition without having to worry about barriers that may deter or prevent you from having a screening.

    How a Screening Benefits You

An OCT uses light to image different layers that make up the structures at the front and back of your eye, capturing both a photograph and a cross-sectional scan of your eyes at the same time, providing high resolution 3D images. This allows for easy checks for potentially serious conditions, giving you both an instant and early diagnosis. What’s more, the software can automatically detect even the most subtle changes to the retina with every eye test you have – giving you an invaluable ongoing record of the health and condition of your eyes.

What does an OTC scan show?

An OCT screening can detect various ocular conditions that could be harmful to your health.

    This includes the following –

    • Glaucoma
    • Diabetes
    • Macular degeneration
    • Macular holes
    • Vitreous detachments
    • Extremely subtle retina changes
